will a 1988 9000t motor be swapable into a 1990 9000t ?
my motor is noisy when cold and getting louder I have a 88 I can get for a parts car with a blown trany. Only diff i can see is mine has DI and the 88 does not.I would be nice to get a engine rebuilt and ready if needed. Then I just need to find a spare 5 speed. |

I should think so, because I had a 1990 motor put into my 1987. All they did was remove the DI and put the old distributor in.

That would be good, I wonder if it makes a diff if the doner car is an auto and mine is a 5 speed?

No, the engine is the same and either transmission will mount up to either engine. My '87 was an automatic when I purchased it. A couple years later it was converted to manual, then a few years after that is when the '90 engine was put in.
