Have your car inspected before warranty expires!
Even though my car was running seemingly with no problems;the day before my warranty expired I had my 2003 9-5 aero with 30,000 miles inspected by a respected independent shop. He told me that everything looked good except for the seepage at the timing cover and to have the PCV update installed. I immeadiately drove to the Saab dealer and had a work order processed . I took it in the next week and they noted the problem. They dropped the engine, ground down the timing cover for a better fit, PCV update, new head and other gaskets, new water pump ( slight leak ), new oil pressure sensor and several other parts related to the repair. They billed Saab for over $1,900! They would have charged a non warranty customer close to $2,800! This would have really upset me, because this is a design fault that should have been recalled. I love this car, it has been my favorite so far. I just hope that there are no further issues. I also appreciate the fact that Saab of Santa Ana did a complete repair as opposed to some dealers that just do the PCV update and wait to see if the seepage stops.
