I have a 2003 9-3 Arc without the HID lights. I am wondering what the brightest option for headlight bulbs would be (although they are fairly bright as it is). Or should I just convert it over to HID? Give me your take

Short of an HID system being installed, I recommend the Osram (not Osram Sylvanias) Silverstars. I replaced one, and it was 50% brighter as they claimed. You can get them on E-bay. I got mine from England.

I think I'm going to install an aftermarket HID kit. I found a 1000K (color) HID Kit on ebay for around $130. It looks relatively simple to install and will make my headlights be 5x brighter.
Of course, I will have to go to the Saab Dealership and have them turn off my headlight warning as HID draws less current than standard halogen bulbs, but oh well. Last edited by rwinger9-3; 12-01-07 at 04:53 PM. |

Check this HID kit out. It was designed to work on our cars, and it includes components that will allow it to run without bulb alarms, bulb strobing, or failure. I have it on my 9-3SS and it works great. I also had another, cheap, kit in my car before this one and it ended up destroying itself, i think you end up getting what you pay for when it comes to aftermarket HIDS. Good luck! |

Replace one, and check it out compared to the old bulb. It is amazing. If you replace both, you will think there is no difference. I think the HID bulbs just draw attention from the police.

on many countries cars with HID's or cars that use 2 pair of lights (normal lights AND lower fog lights)
usually get the attention of police cars.... this is because policemen think the driver is maybe a young person that just wants to attract attention from his ride>>>>which means he drives dangerously or a driver that thinks he is playing the need for speed underground game in REAL LIFE........ here in greece policemen give u a fine if u have 2 pair of lights on or if u use too bright light bulbs........ as far as i am concerned this is right because fog or strong HID lights can blind other drivers....... so ok..........change ur stock lights with something better and prettier....but dont overreact on that......it can be dangerous to others. |

Tuners tend to use load exhausts and bright lights. They tend to drive fast and reckless. HID=Tuner...Tuner=irresponsible
