a friend of mine got into my 2003 9-3 this past week and immediately determined that the plastic fixture to the right of the stick shift was a single CD holder (for your next disc on the single-disc player). i never knew what it was for, and still have my doubts as to that purpose, although it makes some good sense. are the saab designers and my friend brilliant? or are they both good at making something pointless look useful?
any insight? ps: i'm a new-ish saab owner, and newer to the forum. greetings! |

I assumed it was for easy access to a toll or parking ticket. I guess you could put a CD in there, but I'd probably end up whacking it and snapping it in half or at the very least scratching it.

My owners manual calls it a "ticket holder" for parking receipts and the like - works very well for that purpose. I wouldn't put a CD in there - I would expect the disc to get scratched...

Technically, it's a card holder. It's part of the 'SmartSlot' system. Other inserts can be purchased.
I have the ice scraper. Not the most useful ice scraper, but it would come in handy if I forget to toss my real one in the trunk. It is, at the very least, a conversation piece, "your car has a built-in ice scraper?!". Yes, 'tis Swedish, you know http://www.partsforsaabs.com/advance...rds=smart+slot
