Default Harness needed for Aftermarket Stereo Installation 1997 900 S

I bought a new Panasonic MP3/CD player and my buddy who works at a stereo store was supposed to order me the wiring harness connector needed and the dash kit for the radio.

Big Mistake. It has been 3 weeks of chasing him to get "uhhhh....." answers and I am really just fed up with this now.

Can anyone tell me what I need to connect this *&%()*#@)( stereo? Crutchfield has listed a VW Connector for Saabs<???> and the local stereo shop won't touch the car. I'm really aggrevated at this whole situation and just want to have a working radio in the car I spend 2+ hours a day in.

There isn't a single online resource that says the same as another site. Can anyone give me a real, definitive answer of what I need to do to get this to work? VW Connector? Cut the VW Connector? IS there a Saab Harness in the aftermarket? Black Magic?

No one, at least in the US, makes a harness that's labelled as being made for Saabs. You can buy the factory harness adapter from Taliaferro Saab, or just go out and buy a VW harness. There are a couple of versions of VW harnesses, though. Some require that you cut a couple of wires that are used for the SID on Saabs, some don't. My advice is to buy a VW harness, check the wires against the wiring diagram on Richard Bevan's Saab Audio FAQ , and cut wires if necessary.
