Saw my first 335i coupe in the flesh on the weekend. It's gorgeous ! Low, wide, sleek, un-"Bangled" (or de-Bangled). Luckily I caught it while parked, or else it'd be a mere sped-by blur. If I could afford one I'd buy it. Somehow it reminds me of a 3.0CS or 635i
![]() A basic 335i (manual, leather, 17" wheels) can be had for C$54,800 according to BMW Canada. Just to put it in perspective of what a good deal I think it is, a Toyota Solara coupe MSRPs at C$37K, basic Infiniti G35 coupe at C$47,200 and an MB CLK350 coupe (yawn) sets you back C$67,800. I sure wish SAAB can offer a future 9-3 Aero or 9-5 Aero coupe in the C$50K range

Meh. I still think the old ~93-98 series of 3 coupe was really nice. Even the last style was good. This one is not bad, but not as good. But I guess as the 9-5 restyle proves, once you reach perfection in styling you can only go downwards
But hey, it has a turbo

I like the E46 platform better, how about this one:
![]() But more turbos out there is good, the automotive press needs to emphasize SAAB as the innovator of mass-produced turbo cars. Heh even Honda is now doing it with the Acura RDX. Quote:

BMW perfected their style with this:

While the 335 coupe is an exciting development from BMW, to me the B-pillars back looks totally out of sorts... either the doors are too short, or the hiney is too long...
Can't wait to see the 335 sedan, though the 330 sedan's interior that I drove not too long ago was SEVERELY lacking in the "man, that's nice" department. BMW seems to take the Teutonic design theme a little too far... edit: *drool* @ the 8 series... |

When I first saw the 335 I wasn't very impressed - it's kind of ho-hum looking. I've been back a couple times to look at other BMWs (mainly a new 330Ci for the wife) and found the new 335 is growing on me. Car & Driver have pictures of the new convertible and I think we'll be waiting until that come out to replace my wife's current convertible. One thing I don't like on all the 335s I've seen are the wheels, I think different wheels like the sport package wheels from the sedan would help a lot.
I've found that usually when I don't like a car initially, it begins to grow on me (like the 335) and when I like a car when I first see it, I like it less and less the more I see it (like the Acura TL).

In person, the 335i coupe looks way better (to me) than it did in all the car mag/web pics.
While I have a very tough time liking the new 9-5 hiney in real life. The SportCombi's is only marginally better. In pictures I find both tolerable

Seeing the nice proportion of 9-3ss, the styling of 335i is just totally unattractive.
The engine is a work of art tho. |

One thing that bothers me about many BMW's is the way the grill often looks kinda like a dogs snout.

apparently the 335i is not producing anywhere near what it should with that engine. BMW detuned the car so as it wouldnt be faster than the current m3. once the new m3 comes out they will fix it.
