*WANTED* Saab Buddy in Cleveland, Ohio

4 or 5 years I have been at this site.
I am a bit amazed that in all that time the only "Saab buddies" I have are in:

• Columbus (Saaboheme) - 2 hours away
• Dayton (Tboy) - 2.5 hours away
• Canada (Saabscott) - 3.5 hours away

I would like to find someone local so we can help each other work on our cars and just generally be "Saab geeks".

What up OHIO?

Requirements:
Must love Saabs
Prefer a West Sider ( a Clevelander would get that lol )
Preferably driving something newer then oh, 1993.
Preference given to beer drinkers

Ha, having a local SAAB buddy is nice, I found mine on a local general car forum by chance. We hang out at least once a week and do general geeky saab things together.

There will be no geekiness at this garage. We are dropping motors and trannies and when Tboy is there, we will be re-designing the trannies to support 500+ hp. I also want to custom build titanium subframe braces with the six point sub-subframe brace integrated is such way that it will snap in and out (to facilitate access to the pan and other parts).

But serially, anybody in the greater Cleveland metropolitan statistical area gonna sign on with Cleve? When he wanted some help with his steering rack clamp and brace a few weeks ago, he had to come all the way here to my house. Cuz I have kids and mommy would not let me go to his place.

Here's the list of Saab owners that I've collected that live in Ohio. Some of these guys only have a post or two, and only pop up when they need help (thats like praying only when your in trouble)!!

I guess I started my list with you! Don't you feel special now! If that wasn't enough, you know how word suggests names for documents, guess what the document is named? Leafybug!! and plus, every time I open this document, for some reason word creats a backup, so every now an again I go areound and delete all the backup leafybugs on my computer!

Tboy, you can turn that function off in Word (the one that auto-creates a backup version every time you open the document). Cannot remember how off- hand, and this verdampt computer has WordPerfect on it so I can't go looking.

What would be perfect would be to be great pals with an independent Saab mechanic with his own garage. Remind me to tell you about the time (last night) when my H2O pump failed, and it was cold and dark and raining, and I was hopping about on one foot because my right foot was all swolled up like a tick on a bloodhound because I had (and still do) antibiotic resistant staphylococcus superimposed upon my atopic dermatitis. Long story short - he (Tommy Turbo, the indie) had the pump in stock and we put it on in his nice warm shop from 7:00 to 8:45 PM. I could not wear a shoe on my right foot, but he keeps the shop nice & clean, so my sock did not get all wet and dirty. Foot still hurt like a snub from the prettiest girl in school though.

- my 9-3 will be mine until it dies. and then I'll find a way to fix it until it dies again.
- Strongsville counts as west side, no? A bit south depending on your locale, but close enough methinks.
- 2001 9-3 - natch.
- my physique is built on Dortmunder Gold, among other favorites.

In some respects, I'm not surprised you have yet to find anyone local - like you, I see Saabs frequently, and have yet to receive any reciprocation on Saabwave attempts. Snaabs, indeed.

I'll let you know up front that a) I have limited mechanical moxie, although the will is there... b) even more limited is my time, with a 6-month old at home. Aside from work and grocery shopping, I've been something of a shut-in lately, although that makes it easy to find me. Barring the time restrictions, I'm all for a little geeking out on Saabs - otherwise I wouldn't visit this site as much as I do. I have a lot to learn if I don't want to be dependent on the boys at Shaker, so I could use the help. Feel free to PM me.
