Hi there. I have a post in The Longe area for advice on what car model to go for.
I have come across a 2.0i 900 S Talladega (non turbo). I have done some research and found that not all 900s have turbos. I woudl like to know from 900 S 2.0i owners: How does the 900 perform with only 130bhp? Is it decent enough for an average car? Also I came across some statistics that said the 2.0i consumes a bit more fuel that the 2.0 turbo. Is this true? |

This from a 900 2.3 S owner..
Generally, the smaller the engine, the less the performance, but the greater the fuel economy... But the difference is hard to measure....unless at the drag strip... And there are other factors....

I understand that it can subjective on whether a type of car is fast as some people are used to faster or slower cars.
Basically I have been in a 9-5 2.3lpt and 9-5 2.0lpt and they both seem pretty quick and smooth to me. I was just wondering whether a 2.0ltr non turbo would feel a lot more slower than a 2.0lpt due to the weight and size of the saab 900? |

A turbo... even an LPT... makes a big difference.

I'd say that the only way to tell is to drive it. I've got the 2.3 non turbo (we don't get the 2.0's here), and while I know it's slower than a turbo 2.0, it's not annoyingly slow (at least for me). Of course that's with ~20 more hp's than the 2.0.
What puzzles me though is that I've read the 2.0 n.a. gets worse mileage than the 2.3 n.a., which makes me wonder why anyone would have bought one. Was the purchase price much lower? |

Fuel economy for the 900, worst to best according to Saab:
2.0 N/A 2.0 turbo 2.5 V6 2.3 N/A I've not ran a 2.0 N/A Saab but their own numbers support what I've posted. If you really don't need the turbo performance or the refined pull of the V6 the 2.3 is quite a pleasant drive [my vert is a 2.3 and is a pleasant, able machine]
