Personally I think the car is pretty clean looking, with it being black and all the smoked out lights.. that grill is hideous though.

If it got any stranger looking, I would think it was a test vehicle which might have explained why the person in it had a camera at the ready. Although it wouldn't explain their attire. Very strange, makes me glad I live in a low-secrecy area.

That's very strange. Camera, black hoodie, RoboCop style... But, rims are factory stock? Could be a Saab factory stealth car monitoring something (Saabs?). They might hired a professional photographer for that purpose? Anyone else in the car besides a guy holding a camera? It's hard to see.

That is most certainly a test mule. It could be an entirely different Saab (or even other car) under current Saab 9-3 body panels, or simply a new version of the 9-3 going through testing. I've seen "mule" BMWs, Merecedes and Maybachs here in NJ (all have HQ in Woodcliff Lake, NJ), and they always look like this car...flat colors, generic grilles affixed, badges/emblems covered or removed. You should send that pic into the car mags...maybe it's a new Viggen or something.

Leaving it stock would be more stealth than that!! - this guy got a wtf??? posted on this board - if he had left it stock people would have assumed he was some granola eater taking bird pics or something - wouldn't it be fun to sneak up on him with a paintball gun with white paint pellets and just hammer him.

My first impression was that it's a test mule as well. The fact that they're taking a picture of you reinforces this. Maybe it's a new 'Gripen' model in testing? It would be curious to know if it sounded any different when it took off. Are there any GM facilities nearby?

Several years ago I was at a gas station at a high-elevation Colorado town when a similarly-blacked-out car pulled up next to me to gas up. I'm a car guy, and this was unlike any model I'd ever seen. Both guys got out and went inside the station and just left it there with the windows rolled down. I peeked inside to find a plethora of laptops and cables hooked up under the dash. Very obviously a test mule. I almost grabbed my camera and started shooting pictures when the guys came out of the station and gave me a dirty look. I waved and said, 'doing a little high-altitude testing?' and one kind of smirked, both got in the car and sped off.

About 4 months later I saw the car again. This time in a spy-shot in Car & Driver as the upcoming Cadillac CTS.
