I have a 2000 9-3, auto trans. I'm wondering what people recommend as beginning mods. I have a k&n filter and have done a few cooling mods, just DIY stuff. But what mods do you all think I should do. Just performance and suspension.
Cant wait to hear your suggestions. |

begining mods... hmmmm...
usually the first mods are 22mm rear sway bar- improves your feel and ability to maintain a higher speed through corners steering rac and clamp- will help to eliminate torque steer smbc- since you have a t-7 this will be used to increase your stock boost in turn giving you more hp from your turbo finally modifying your airbox- this involves some minor DIY... you must cut a bigger whole into your stock airbox and fit a 3" piece of pvc... which will allow increased flow this will get you a good power hungry start and these are also the mods you can do for the cheapest that will show the most improvement your next mod after these should be a 3" downpipe... this will increase spool up time... turbo noise... and give you about 10-12 more hp good luck and hope this helps you out.... |

Just some clarification on the previous post. A SMBC is not used to raise peak boost as the t-7 will not tolerate it. It will provide better spool up of the turbo and a bit more boost in the lower gears without raising peak boost in the car. It is a nice option to get you going.
The T-7 also has a different airbox than the t-5's and the snorkel is larger so the 3" duct mod does not apply here either. The 22mm rear sway bar is a must. Start there. A steering rack brace is also another beginning mod. Larger IC and a 3" downpipe are typically the next things to tackle as you prepare your car for a performance ECU. This is a place to start. |

thanx spatl... i did not know the specifics about an smbc... if i get bored at some point i'd like to make a sticky beginning mods... and then have you review because these questions come up all the time... and i think it'd save people a lot of typing to just sticky something like this...
