2 months, 2 gear boxes!

After having my gear box done and getting the car back the other week i lost 4th gear on the "new" box - this was gutting as i supplied the box from a spare car and had the synchros done in the low gears, pulled onto a dual carriageway and it stripped the teeth of 4th, then the diff went!

Back to the garage it went! and today, its coming home again! what can i say, 3rd time lucky?

dude, what with a correct suggestion in the workshop, a new found peice of information on the toolkit, and a renunion with your precious one - you must be set for a lottery ticket purchase

I know! i might buy a scratch card on my way back from the garage, allthough, at this rate i think i will take it as a blessing if i get home without being pulled over for any reason (will be swapping wheels and tyres over tonight!)

Or, i might break down on the way home!!!!! son of a..... i saw a beemer! A BEEMER!!! after that thread on the BMW forum, broken down in the middle of a roundabout, pulled over to help push it off, went back to my car....battery flat!! Karma? irony? just sodding bad luck....!?

The gear box is nice though! pleased so far, better than the original!

Took just under 1 hour for the AA to get there, really nice bloke, followed me most of the way home incase i stalled and lost the power again!!

Got home, spent the evening swapping all 4 wheels to ones with decent tyres and the battery!!

Well done mate - might be worth putting the battery on a trickle charge, the amount of use it's had lately (virtually nil) means it might have just run itself down.

Glad you've got a spare car for next year's 'Pod though...

Alas, the batter has been a gonner for a fair while now, it was charged at the garage but it needs replacing, i have swapped it for the white one and will get a new one for it next week! but it runs well! so im happy!

Murray - sorry to hear of all the problems you had with your gearboxes etc. Bet you are glad to have it home finally. Had to get a new battery for mine as well (being done with a host of other work as we speak). Make sure you get one the right size as its a funny one on the c900 - i had to get a genuine saab one as i was so desperate for it. Not cheap

Even funnier is that the batter in the white car fits in the black car but is much smaller and the terminals are back to front, but the battery from the black car doesnt fit in the white car! as the cables are too short and the terminals are back to front!!
