hey all, i recently purchased a 86 SPG, and all is very good. but the issue i am having recently is that when i am either idling at a light or stop sign, i sometimes (only sometimes) get a small amount of smoke coming out the back, that then turns into a bit plume, and after shift and move through the gears, it subsides and i am back to normal.i thought that maybe it was a bit of varnish, so i ran a cleaner through, and the smoke went away (for the most part) but then i went and filled it up, and the smoke is becoming much more frequent. i figured it might be an issue with the turbo, as i have seen once or twice a bit of smoke coming from the hood. i am pretty able bodied at wrenching, but never owner a car newer than 1970, so turbos and electronics are fairly foriegn to me. any help would be much appreciated.

You could check the pipe that comes from the turbo to the intake manifold - look and see if it's got a fair coating of oil - that'd be a pretty fair clue that the turbo seals were leaking.
Nothing newer than a 1970, eh? Cool - at least there's one other person on forum who knows what points and main jets are ... Welcome aboard |

What? Just ask Jetman and his points dizzy on his '81 900
Don't put too much faith in the intake piping... the PCV goes through there and any engine that area is oily...
