is it possible to order an entire projector headlight kit for a car that is different than mine (i have a 92 900) and then do some not-too-hard modifying to install the new headlights?
or at least just some xenon bulb kits that have a very bright/blue-ish appearance? any help is great, alex |

blue light is at the opposite end of the color spectrum. So your light output will be less than stock.Instead buy some silvania silverstars.in terms of color output they are really close to HID lights.2 bulbs costs 40 bucks at walmart so they are really damn good.

Light above temperature above 4800K has wasted energy that is going towards blue and purple which DO NOT! give good light in the dark tarry roads.
Yellow at 3600K is the best colour, Xenon bulbs only give 13% more light and reduce the filiments life span by 50% in the real world. Good quality Halogens are the best all year round bulbs. HID system are very good but very expensive still. There is a thread were some guys wanted to rechome the reflectors behind the glass lens which is a great idea. |

i've seen the kind of angel-eye/projector/dark plastic surrounded replacement headlamps for some Civics and VW Golfs that are similar in layout and shape to C900 headlamps. in theory, you could cut out the outer casing and lens from a 900 and stuff the inards from one of those inside, or maybe mould a new mount from CF or fibreglass if need be.. BUT headlights are designed very carefully to shine light a certain way and even 1 or 2 mm either way would make a difference and completely throw out the alignment.
it could be done but jeez, you'd have to realign things very very carefully.

Abbott Racing do a HID kit, but i guess you could probably do it cheaper sourcing the balast and bulbs yourself.
There's quite a few kits on ebay that do H4 bulbs for about 1/3rd of the price, no idea about quality though. http://www.abbottracing.com/2003/index.htm

There all made in China so quality will not vary that much i believe.
The bulbs last a long time regardless because of the lower current high voltage. I got my HID kit for £90 iirc, but i sold them for £150 as i needed the money for a repair. |

Xenon gas filled bulbs are rubbish and blue and purple tinted bulbs are rubbish too but the HID system is superiour and nothing at all like xenon bulbs, its more effcient and give a stronger light.
The down side is the cost, its probably 30X more expensive than a decent set of Halogen bulbs and a doubt it would outlast 30 set of bulbs so its not better value even 10 years down the line Man i miss my car |

Maccess were doing a special on Xenon H4's last time i was in the London branch, so i got a set for my car, a set for my brothers Volvo T5-R, and a set for my mums 900s (bless her, she loves her Aero).... not one set lasted more than 6 months
the light was good, but unless you can pick them up for 50p a set - dont bother!!
