After a flat with the stock Pilot Premiers, I decided it was time to turn in all four mostly worn out tires for some new ones. After a good bit of research I've decided on either http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=SP+Sport+Maxx [ These have the best survey results, and are a newer model ] or http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Eagle+F1+GS-D3 [ these scored better in independant tests by car and driver and some other magazine, and have been around for a bit longer - have far more reviews ] My concern is with all aspects of tire performance except for winter driving, but I just can't seem to decide between these two fine models. Any help would be appreciated! |

Either way you go, you'll be happy. The Eagle f1's are a great tire. Very grippy. A friend of mine has a set on his '02 9-3 and loves them. They are pricy but a great tire. Dunlops(as a brand) has had their share of difficulties with performance tires. I haven't had great luck with dunlops in the past but each tire should be considered by itself.
I've enjoyed my latest set of Cooper Zeon's 2XS and they are reasonably priced but you won't go wrong with those Eagle F1's. |

Looked at the same tyres and ruled out the Eagle's because of noise. Quite happy with my Yokohama AVS 102.

FWIW, my father-in-law has Dunlop SP Sport9000's on his Audi A6 2.7T quattro and loves them, but the car is a sled in the winter time, even with quattro.
I recently bought Sumitomo HTRZII's from Tire Rack. I must say that they are a heckuva tire for the price. Great dry grip, great wet grip. Very quiet in the dry, a little noisy in the wet. I run full on Nokian Hakka's in the winter, so I can't comment on the winter drivability, but like most summer high performance tires, I'm sure it's abysmal. |
