The engine has a rev limiter, so you can't blow it up. Mine kicked in when I put it on a dyno. The fuel supply is cut off so the engine suddenly loses power. Taking it up to red line every now and then won't kill it, so don't worry. It's called an "Italian tune up".

What model of car do you have? Because my 900 turbo's redline is indicated at 6200rpm.

I have a v6 auto 900 and when I push it either in sport mode or normal it will hit up to 6400 or 6500 RPM before it shifts. The redline it at 6000RPM. As long as you don't drive it hard like that all the time it will be perfectly fine.

Thanks guys just what i wanted to know.
Abbott 900 FYI mine is a 900 LPT aero born in 1993 and has an abbott intercooler. Jeremy at what rpm did your rev limiter kick in? just as comparison interest. Thanks again |

The rev limiter kicked in at about 200-250 RPM past the red line. I'd have to look at the RPM gauge to see exactly where that is.
