Default Saab 900 Turbo Engine/Trans Upgrade

Preparing my 1987 900 Turbo engine and 5-speed transmission upgrade, assembling all the individual parts ready for the rebuild later this year:

*1988 900 Turbo engine block,new rings and bearings,otherwise standard.
*1992 9000 non turbo cylinder head, reconditioned but standard
*1988 900 Turbo camshafts
*1988 5-speed manual transmission reconditioned but standard (very rare in NZ-would obtain later transmission if I could!)
*1988 9000 Turbo water & oil cooled remanufactured turbo
*SaabPerformanceParts uprated clutch assembly
*3.0 bar FPR/Saab 9000 fuel rail
*SaabPerformanceParts uprated injectors & fuel pump
*SaabPerformanceparts uprated APC computer

Looking into intercooler options, prefer front-mounted but not sure about which type yet. Possible Saab 9000? Which is the best/easiest fit? Prefer Saab standard if I can as I like fitting Saab parts to this beast.

If you want to stay factory saab a 9k IC or a 9-3 Viggen IC, or even a NG900 IC would do some good things for you.

IF you want OEM saab then a C900 IC in it's stock spot is your choice.

If you want a FMIC & want the best I wouldn't waiste your time with a 9K. It's better then the OEM IC but still not very good

Aftermarket is by far the best way

out of curiosity:

1. which 9000 turbos can be used (by used I mean "worthwhile performance upgrade") in a 900?

2. did any 9000 models get bigger injectors?
