SRS light

I was informed that a light saying "SRS" in the middle of the pictogram has come on. Is this bad?

SRS = supplemental restraint system = airbag

Check that the "clockspring" on the steering column that contains the leads is intact.

That's the simplest remedy...

Most other fixes require dealer/indie intervention

Even if that were the problem, fixing it is unlikely to cause the SRS light to go out since it lights if the fault is "bulb failure" (irony that eh?) and the only way to reset it is a trip to the dealer.
