eBay - Gaffs!
Am I the only stupid one here? (dont shout)
Ok what are your greatest eBay gaffs? Mine are:

Nothing really in that league,
I bought some wheels over in England once, as I was planning a trip over, so I could have collected them, the trip got cancelled so £50 down the drain, (thinking about it I should have offered them to someone on here  for free)

A mates work colleague decided to order a widescreen TV from Italy, obviously your first choice for cheap electronic goods, for £1500. He never saw the £1500 again, and he never saw the TV either. It was his first time on e-bay, and he hadn't even heard of feedback.The worst thing I ever did was almost bid on a Saab 9-5
 Phew, that was a close one

Lets see...
I bid on an item that required money order payment once, cause I forgot to check payment methods. Turns out the guy was legit though, and he just didn't like checks or paypal. Normally I only bid if the seller accepts paypal. Once I accidentally missed a decimal point, and wound up bidding $12,000 instead of $120.00. I sucessfully retracted that bid though. Overall my ebay experiences have been good. Never had a reason to leave anything but good feedback.

The only time I really got ripped off was for a complete surround sound system with DVD... I paid $200 and the guy sent it to me. It didn't have the power cable, didn't have the remote and the DVD player part didn't work. The guy kept my $200. Thankfully I gave it to my in laws who have a DVD player and needed the surround sound. But I had long e-mail exchanges with the guy...considered small claims court but my time is more valuable. Damn weasel!

I almost bought a '72 Nova for way more money than I had...I was high bidder for a long time...phew.
Also bid on a pair of Israeli Airforce DC-3's...a steal at $80,000...but couldn't quite get the 50,000 in bond to ensure ability to transport. Drat!

I once bought (and paid) for a serving tray made of Brazilian hard wood and butterfly wings, from a seller in Arkansas. Thought I'd take part in the pillaging of the Amazon rain forest.
 Seller closed the ebay account, never shipped the item. Had to track the sob myself. Then got a tinge of guilt for being a scrooge at Xmas. Accepted the loss. I can still reach out and touch that culprit, but it ain't me. Don't ethics (religion) suck? Ebay never even sent a form for my taxes! Now that upsets me. No culpability, or even a formal acknowledgment.
