Default Any one familiar with trim on UK '75 Silver Jubilees?

Just wanting to find out what was particular to the 1975 UK Silver Jubilee 96?

That is, apart from silver(ish) paint, the all-black grille, the wheel trims which really grow on you over time, and the yukky brown interior.

For one, does anyone know if they came with a clock in the centre of the dash? I was told they did, but mine has the 96 emblem...

Cheers

The 2 I have seen up close had clocks, but wasn't the clock a option or some sort of random event anyway. My souvenir had no clock.

Personal I know but I never liked the black grille. They do look great with the older chrome bumpers on though, looks mint with the silver.

Clocks were optional even on Jubilees & Souvenirs. Jubilees also had that lovely (!) black & silver trim strip that runs along the side below the glass line. Many of them ended up with a black vinyl roof (this was 1975 after all) but not a factory item. Love the colour on a 99ems but TBH I've never really cared for it on a 96. My dad has one of these too... ultra-low miles, one little old lady owner, managed to bump each corner on her gatepost repeatedly one day he'll finish it and have it on the road...

I'll take a look and see if there is some wiring for a clock. Wouldn't mind having one there all the same.

Cassonian, I know what you mean about the black grille, however I think it could look the goods if I can somehow install round headlights in a non-destructive way (to allow me to reconvert to original if I wanted to). Those horrible rectangular things did nothing for the 96s IMHO. Makes them look too Renault-ish from front on, and doesn't fit in with all the curves on the car.

Fliptop, well I consider myself lucky not to have a vinyl roof! I'm not sure what you mean by the black and silver trim strip. The car was repainted about 10 years ago, so it was probably removed then. I've googled extensively in the past, but never seen something like that. Might be in some old brochure, but I doubt SAAB ever produced one for such a limited run.

I don't think you will be able to keep the black grille and convert to round lights. For that you will need the old style grille, which is metal. Suppose you could always paint it black afterwards!

Well, its an option, since I have a complete spare metal grille plus lights.. thing is, if you leave something long enough, it grows on you, and I'm not sure if I could be shagged doing anything now.. its really only front on that the car looks out of whack... from all other angles she's a poem of curves!
