Default Throttle cleaning?

Is there a way to give the throttle body a good cleaning? Somewhere I read that that might help with my hard starting and idle.
Any ideas or direction?

Spray with carb cleaner, wipe with rag. Repeat.
It won't do a thing for starting but it cures most "stalling when coming to a stop".

Replace the fuel filter below the rear passenger side seat area on the body first. It is cheap enough to do.
'94 cs, '94cde, '95cse, all turbo and 5 speed all gone,
4 bimmers now '95 525i, '94 540it/6, '01 540it, '03 325i

Don't use carb cleaner, use fuel injection system cleaner.

Take the rubber bellows off the throttel body, put a rag under the housing to catch the drips, spray the FI cleane rliberally in the throttle body, opening the throttle to allow spary to hit the back side, spray around the corner into the AIC valve circuit.

Reconnect the rubber bellows and be prepared for a very hard start, then drive for twenty minutes or so to clear the cleaner out.
On the 2.0 non Trionic cars this is routine maintenance every couple of years. Later 2.3 and trionic cars don't seem to need this as often if at all.

However, rough idle and poor pick up are more likely to be vacuum leaks, faulty hooter valve, faulty PCV non return fitting and so on.

Fuel filter should be replaced every 90,000 km (50,000 miles). Also, replace fuel filter if you suspect fuel contamination. Fuel line antifreeze (methanol or isopropyl alcohol, 125 ml per tank) or fuel system dryer is also recommended for climates that have high humidity or severe winter tempratures.
