Default Part number help, please

Could someone with an EPC to hand please help me identify a part number.

The parts in question are the little clips that hold the oil lines on top of the camshafts in an early (87) B202 engine.

There should be 4 per cam, with 3 being identical and the 4th having a little cap on the end.

Stupidly, I hit the oil line with a rachet while removing the head, d'oh !

Cheers Daniel

From it pic, it looks like No.28 is the thing, only that there are 4 of them in total for each cam, and that appear to only show the (slightly different, I think) end one.

In the meantime, I found a part number on saabsite which was 7480460. If No.28 tallies up with that, then I think I'm in business.

BTW - you have PM re. the paypal thang...

Default Finding discontinued parts...

Can anyone suggest how I might lay my hands on a new oil spray bar for an 87 B202 engine? Saab Sweden list the part as discontinued (wierd, because they still supply the nipples to spary the oil into the cam bearings)

To give you the full story - I took the HG off on Sunday (job went v.well, no sheered bolts, no rounded heads). Took it down the machine shop to have it skimmed and they DROPPED it off the machine, breaking all the oil spraybars and nipples, and bending one of the cam sprockets.

They've very reluctantly agreed not to charge me for the job (58 bill), but I've now got to find and fit all the new bits. Spray nipples come in at 25+VAT from Saab and the sprocket is 33+P&P from PFS, but I'm a bit stuck for the spray bars. Anyone got any clever suggestions?

any help most appreciated

Part numbers 7508468 (Qty 1) and 7508476 (Qty 2) still show as available. Who said they weren't? Have you tried PFS for a price on them as well as the other bits?

Local Saab dealer said they were showing as discontinued. (Just phoned to double check, using the part number you just gave me)

Spoke to PFS, who said that if the Saab dealer said it was discontinued there was nothing he could do (although I don't think he looked it up himself...)

Weren't the overhead oilers 16v only?

You could fit one of the later heads, which don't use the nasty overhead oilers. Check fitment issues first.

I did seriously consider fitting a 2.3 head while I was going to all the trouble of changing the HG, but 3 things stopped me:

1) I know the head I've got is A1 - had all its valves, followers etc changed 50,000 ago - don't want to switch for an unknown quantity.
2) 2.3 heads have a reputation for being more crack prone.
3) I'm a tight-**** and didn't want to shell out for a new head.

The oil spray pipes are currently with the engineering company. I went back and explained the situation, and they're going to try to either repair the broken one, or machine up a new one. My plan B is a guy who's currently breaking an 87 T16s. Plan C is the very kind offer from Nutcase to source the part from Sweden.

cheers for all your help guys.

Later 2.0L heads had the internal oilers, not just the 2.3L heads.

You could get an A1 B202 from a MY89+ car.

I stuck a pretty good nick late 900 head (NA) on ebay a while back. Made a whole 99p I even pointed out it didn;t use the silly pipes!
