Been using Opera since v5.12. Switched to that from Netscape when the terrible v6.0 appeared.
Currently using v7.5, but today I installed v8.5. I can't see that the functionality which I use is any different or better than v7.5. May check out v9.0TP though. It was ages before I upgraded from v5.12 to v6.x, and only then because I had to. Firefox is a great browser, but I feel that Opera's at a more refined state of development, whichisn't surprising as it's been around much longer. However, for the length of time it's been around, Firefox has evolved at a staggering rate.

The thing IMO which sets firefox above opera is stated above: its rate of development. With proper use of extensions, you can do some crazy stuff in firefox which I was never able to do in opera. Though, if firefox didn't exist, opera would definitely be my second choice.
You should remove IE from the poll and insert links to opera and firefox instead. **** IE.

http://www.opera.com/
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ I originally started using Opera because there were no decent alternative non-IE browsers. Had Firefox in its present state been around then, the choice for would have been easy. Instead we had Netscape v6 which was buggy, incomplete and crashed often. Firefox's extensions architecture is its jewel, and I really wish that Opera had a similar feature. However, it's Firefox's massive developer/hacker support that gives us the quantity and variety of extensions. Opera just doesn't seem to have that same community support, probably because it's not open-source and for most of its life has been commercial. Even after years of development and marketing, Opera's still struggling to gain 2% market share. Firefox though has raced to nearly 28% usage (January 2006). http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp I wonder if part of Opera's problem is that by default it's set to identify itself as IE I'll be sticking with Opera, partly because it's a good browser which I kow how to use, and partly because I like to support minority products (I do drive a Saab, afterall

The cool thing about Opera is that no one is writing virus' or exploits for it. There are over 100 secruity holes in IE and at least a dozen for FFox.
The thing I don't like about Opera though, is you don't get the 'post preview' when hovering over a link on this site. It just shows the link.

Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 Sorry, they're huge... I hardly ever use OBO just because the interface makes me angry and it makes most of the pages I visit look like a parking lot full of whale vomit. Oh, and whenever I try to close it, it crashes.
