Default DI cassette change

Hey all , am I right in thinking I can just swap out the DI cassette?
I'm running a 1998 '95 2.0 lpt with a few problems which I think relate to the DI. I've got access to a crashed 2003 with a working DI so the question is can I just switch in the 03 one? Its marked TK3 4D C and has a sticker saying "warning only resistor spark plugs permitted"

Yeah that should be fine. The "R" means the spark plug has to be the R type NGK. As long as the DI Cassette is for a T7 and if its coming out of a crashed 9-5 then you should be fine but it does not hurt to double check. Change the spark plugs as well. A failing DI Cassette can melt the plugs. Make sure you use NGK BCPR6ES plugs. Changing the DI is a cake walk, just unscrew it, disconnect the wire and connect the new one.

Good luck!

Not a problem Sleeper lol. You can ask the person your getting it from. It is coming from a 9-5 and it's the black DI right? If so you should be safe. Is you Check Engine light on by any chance?

Check engine light is not on, car is staggering, occasionally wont start, under high revs it wont accel just very jerky. Thought I'd start with the sparks and DI. If this dont cure it then CPS next.....

Where? PFS cheapest is 140 inc delivery.

Besides I'm not sure it is the DI, so by swapping out for a cheap alternate if the problem ceases then I can buy a new one having narrowed it down to that component. If not then I have not spent large sums on a blind alleyway.

Have pulled my DI and Sparks, which are not in great condition. Big gaps hmmm

The gaps are fairly big at 1.1mm but it has been suggested that too wide a gap or too small a gap can add to the DI failure rate.

Any other decent stuff on the 2003?

Without giving too much away, its still awaiting an insurance assessment......as the front end had nothing to do with it being trashed its kind of a "borrow" the DI on the weekend to check if it cures my problem and pop it back in by monday morning....
