You will need the GlobalTIS ISO, Saab GlobalTIS keygen (Saab GlobalTIS keygen.zip), Sumatra PDF (if you don't have a PDF reader), and the Virtual CD Control Panel (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38780)
Put all of these files on the desktop.

Steps:
1. Launch and unzip the Virtual CD-ROM control panel (Note: if you're using Windows 8 or 10, skip this step. You can double-click the ISO, and it will mount)
2. Load driver and mount GlobalTIS ISO
3. Open My Computer, launch Saab GlobalTIS CD and click next repeatedly throughout the setup process (you may have to
4. Open GlobalTIS, fill out the registration information
5. Download the Email/Fax registration file to the desktop
6. (Optional) unmount ISO and unload the virtual CD
7. Unzip GlobalTIS keygen, set environment variable/path to C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\jre\bin
8. Go to C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\ROOT and install Java
9. Copy keygen files into C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\tis2web\WEB-INF\lib
10. Open cmd and type the following: cd C:\Program Files\GlobalTIS\tomcat\webapps\tis2web\WEB-INF\lib
11. Open registration.pdf on the desktop, copy the registration key, remove dashes and combine them into one line. If you don't have a PDF reader, download and install SumatraPDF (Download Sumatra PDF - a free reader)
12. Go back to cmd, type keygen.bat, press the spacebar once, then right-click, Paste, and enter. (the keygen.bat and the registration key should have a space between them)
13. Reopen GlobalTIS, scroll down to the registration section
14. Copy subscribe ID and License Key by right-clicking in cmd, clicking Mark, highlighting text, then pressing enter to copy
15. Go back to GlobalTIS registration and paste the ID/key in their respective fields
16. Click Register License Key, OK, then Logout
17. Close and re-open GlobalTIS, and the software is activated.

Thanks all for the help!

I was able to get it uninstalled and get the new installer going again and was still having all kinds of issues.

I think I found what was causing it and I feel quite silly....so I had to share.

In the heat of the latest install and operation of tech 2000 I had the notion to check my time on my computer and sure enough.....Jan 05 2005 !!!!!

after sitting for so long (probably around 7 years at my best guess) The CMOS battery must have died hahahaha

I set the time to 10/30/2018 and voila....it started working....

also a word of note....

I had over 50 updates!!! I cannot believe that windows updates still works for XP!!!!!!

what a crazy night.

Thought I would link the changes needed to install Saab Globaltis on Windows 7 64bit for future reference.

Trying on Windows 8:

2. Load driver and mount GlobalTIS ISO ==> "the handle is invalid" when selecting VCdRom.sys

Finally got security access!

Went through Windows 8 > VM > WinXP> GIS

Used Tripp-Lite Keyspen USB to Serial Adapter

Will test on car tomorrow.

Thanks Nitrous 9200 - that is a superb video which I was able to follow along as I installed GlobalTIS. I triple checked every step as I did it and the installation seemed to work well.
I connect the Tech2 to the car and try to adjust driver door locking so it asks me to get Security Access. I then Disconnect from car and connect to PC (XP) and Global TIS
However although the right screens appear on trying for Security Access it does not get it. It simply tells me that an error occurred:
272373

I have tried every COM port and USB socket combination. Same result.
I have a Prolific USB/Serial adapter which I read someone else used successfully.
(My Saab is a 2005 9-3 Convertible. TIS2000 does not work for me either.)
Anyone have any ideas?

Can we get this thread removed and replaced with something that actually works?

Nothing I extracted from the files looks like what's on the video. Instead, there's some set up file in there and an outrun .bat file (wtf?), and I'm not running that because the video says nothing about it.

Getting really frustrated by trying to get a working tech 2 and laptop, and finding only obsolete information that doesn't line up with the files as they appear in the google drive. $800 and two years later, and I'm still here with no tech 2 or laptop.

Edit: Yep, just ran it a second time and it says Mount Failed because it's not an ISO file you end up with from that google drive. It's a Zip file CALLED GlobalTIS, and the Virtual CD whatever doesn't see it as usable because it's not an ISO.

You need to UNZIP the GlobalTIS file - that will produce the ISO file you want..
Watch the video from Nitrous 9200 - the first post in this thread. It is clear and precise.
I followed it to the letter and had no difficulties with the long job of installing Global TIS.
My problem was that I could not then get Security Access but that was solved by ditching my Prolific USB to Serial adapter and getting the Tripp-Lite one referred to by Laminator above.

It is a six months since I did this so I can't remember just where I got the file: GlobalTIS-002.zip but it did unzip to give me files including Saab Global TIS 2010-1.iso
I think I got it from here:
Saab - Google Drive
You can get the workshop manual, WIS from here too, which you should have.
,
(If it helps there is a longwinded set of instructions here by jvanabra:
Setting up TIS2000 and GlobalTIS This contains a lot of steps and warnings which I found unnecessary to heed.)

Here is the link I used, which takes you from Digg's sticky post to the Saab Google Drive that YOUR link goes to as well. I DL the GlobalTIS, and that screen in my previous post is what results. It's a 2+ gb file with no ISO, the majority of the density being in the Windows folder.

Finally paid someone to set it up, and it's a moot point because the Tech 2 won't connect to my car and I get some weird CIM error.

throws hands up in the air

Done.
