Default 900 2.5 V6 Engine

Does anyone know the difference between the engine in the 900 2.5 V6 and the Vectra GSi engine, the Saab puts out 175bhp and the Vectra 192bhp, is it the camshafts out of the 3.0 V6 or the ECU that makes the difference, i know that the exhaust camshaft in the 2.5 and the 3.0 are the same but the intake cams are different with a higher lift profile, and that Vauxhall used the Saab profile to give their 3.0 a boost in power, also how much power and torque will the Auto box in the 900 take, is it as limited by torque as the 9000's.

The new900 autobox has a good reputation, we've got one at the mo' . The turbo required torque control but the N/A engines don't need this; the overall package with the 2.5V6 auto is a better [or at least] more refined drive than the auto 9000 due mostly to the superior transmission.

I believe the Vectra GSi utilised cam enhancement, ecu re-map, increased compression and a larger bore exhuast to get the extra 20-25 bhp [Vauxhall stock 2.5 is 170bhp] not unlike the changes I made to mine to get a R.R. verified 195bhp.

Here's a useful cam thread for V6's; also have you looked at what I'm doing lately ?

Just learned something else today; the heads on a 3.0 have bigger inlet ports and a higher airflow bottom manifold section [compatible with the 2.5]; so, it looks like the whole top end from a 3.0 is a potential upgrade for a 2.5.
