Default Jak Stoll Stage 5 is Awesome!!!

Finally got my new injectors and new stage 5 software from Jak and my car is on fire!!! The power is awesome and with some new sw tricks, Jak has my car pulling like crazy from 4k to my new 7k redline... Its a monster, I will post new dyno sheets soon.... My car still starts to pull hard at 3k, but then at 4k or so, its like another shot in the arm as my turbo spins into obivion and the boost climbs to over 25psi, the car is rocket sled now Propts to Jak!!!

Happy new stage 5 owner...

John

Glad to see you're happy with your new stuff!

Is that dyno session going to happen at sea level?

I do want to make an acceleration video of the boost gage, tach and speedo...

I just have to find someone that is willing to ride with me!!! For some reason, everyone thinks I am crazy and my car is way too fast...

That rear sway bar and front steering rack brace did wonders for my handling, now onto my new Voxtland springs and new shocks... Then I have a true racing car....

I am planning on attending a race in Phoenix in February... I will try and do a dyno run there to see what is what, but in the mean time I will do a regular sae dyno here in Denver... I will also post an uncorrected version so that people can decide for themselves how much power they feel I am loosing a mile high...

I have gathered more data since the last discussion and I think 1/4 mile times can show a true loss in power... So far each case I have researched would indicate between 15%hp loss by the same amount of time lost due to altitude... Saabs usually run between 1.2-2.4 seconds slower up here than they do at sea-level... There are other factors here, driver error and all that, but basically the best some guys can do is somewhere around 15-20% slower times that at sea-level... I would still say 15-20% is about right for power loss at this altitude... If you wanted to be conservative, say the loss is only 12% or half what the dyno jet claims... One thing I do know, my car is a rocket sled and its a blast to drive... Cross drilled rotors, here I come,
John

Yea, I do need one of those!!! I tell ya, I did this upgrade to have fun and go fast and maybe some road-racing and track racing kind of stuff, but now with stock springs and shocks and brakes and a whopping 340bhp plus and lets say a 60mph cross-wind!!! Look out.... I was going fast on the interstate, lets just say the speed limit is 75mph in Colorado, I was going fast and when I let off the throttle, the entire car lurched forward and kind of waggled around a little... That was just what I wanted, to scare the livin sh... out of me... I succeeded This Colorado wind is crazy this year... has been blowing in excess of 80mph!!! Watch out....

I think the upgraded springs and poly bushings from gs will help this movement and get me closer to a real road-racer... Just need a track... Who knows what is available in the Denver area??? I need a track!!! Thanks,

John

That lurching would probably be the flex in the motors and trans mounts.

I'm a little curious, you have stage V and all, but what do you have for suspension and braking mods other than the 22mm rear sway and clamp and brace?

Well, I have polyeurothane motor mounts, this helped a bunch for shifter feel and engine movement.. Then I added a upper 9000 mount and now the motor does not hardly move at all, cannot see it move at all from inside the car, but from outside with someone else loading the motor, I can see it move about 1/4" or so... Its solid... I have front steering rack brace installed and rear sway bar installed... That helped a lot, but I need to install my new Voxtland springs and shocks... Waiting for strut mounts to start job and am going back and forth on whether to do Koni, Bilstein or Kyb gas-o-just... Have all poly bushings for front end now... Have Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors on the way too... Thats about it, the issue I had was going very fast in a 60-80mph cross-wind!!! Definetely need new shocks and my new springs to be installed with polys, this should help the movement of my entire car... I cant wait... I have the power now, still need the suspension work done... I would highly recomend doing suspension and brakes first before such a power increase like mine... I am over-powered and under-suspensioned right now... Will keep you all informed, Mr. Speed Demon,

John

Default Road Racing, where is a track???

Yea, that is the hard part, how do I convince my better half I really need to get these upgrades done??? In my case, my girl seems to like the idea of road racing and car shows better than my airplane pylon racing... Feels all my racing buddies are goobers... So don't let me down car racers, you must be cool, look cool, act cool, drive a cool car and not act like a electrical Geek... This should be easy, all my radio control pylon racing buddies fit into this catergory....

Let the racing begin!!! Show me the track Denverites, where do I go to road race???

John

Its a modified JSP T28 Jak's hybrid "big boy" with something like a gt28r compressor wheel, clipped or something... What ever it is, its strong...

I may get to dyno tomorrow... Will post results soon,

John

I really should drive up and talk to Jak. I live only a couple hours away and go up that way often. although, I already have a chip and the saab sport exhaust. what should I do next to make my 9-3 really move? (I already have suspension upgrades and the upgraded ARB)
