When my 9-5 (1999, almost 90,000 miles) is put into either drive or reverse, driven for a small (or large) distance, then brought to a stop there are about 3-4 clunk type sounds. i recently brought it in for service and my mechanic told me that one of the engine mounts is getting a little loose...could this be the source of the sound or could it be something else? thanks

Certainly sounds like it could be worn mountings or suspension bushes.
