these are some new bits I got from YT performance/Yankton Tuned, they look pretty sweet...
These are not the best pics, due to the poor lighting in my garage... these look sooooo sweet in person, the thick resin clear coat absorbs some of the light from the flash so ignore any spots that look white. I will get better pics when I can, and when my car is more clean.... well here they are....new CF battery shield, engine bay fuse box cover and cabin fuse panel cover. in the last pic the door pulls and door entry sill panels are also custom YT products. The pulls look way nicer than the stock Saab ones... ![]() ![]()

Looks nice man.
The saab CF bits are definitely a bit junky. I have the door pulls and the dash kit and the 9-5 shift knob. The shift knob is the only thing of the three that hasn't in any way delaminated. The door pulls and dash are seemingly delaminating from the inside out. Yankton's CF is also a nicer shade of grey compared to the saab sones that seem to have a touch of yellow in it. Someone's got some $ to burn eh? I will be interested to see how those door sils hold up over time. I would guess they could take quite a beating where they are so it will be interesing to hear over time reports. Good stuff! |

The yellow in the saab CF parts might be kevlar. It is put in carbon parts to make them a bit more flexable, just a thought.
The Yankton parts look great though. |

Looks sooooo sweet.
Hope Kevin keeps on making bits even though he's selling his car. What type of paint did you use on the other parts? Chris Last edited by Troll_speed; 02-12-05 at 01:40 PM. Reason: forgot a detail |

Andy B: The OEM Saab carbon bits, especially the door pulls, are not actually a true carbon fiber composite. By that, I mean that the carbon fiber is actually "dry" and not wetted out with resin. The manufacturer of these pieces simply glues the carbon fiber to the door pull and then puts down many coats of clear coat which lend to the yellow color. Kevlar thread are usually only placed on the edges of a carbon fiber fabric roll to prevent the edges from fraying.
Here are some pics of a carbon fiber cargo hatch cover that I recently finished: ![]()

Looks sweet! Just the right amount without going overboard. After seeing the battery cover I think I want that, no I need that. Good job keep it up.
