Default Non starting ???

Hello,

I've just joined this forum and hoping I might be able to gain some wisdom about a strange problem I'm experiencing with my 94 9000 CSE, 2 litre injection. Any help would be most appreciated.

It's only the second time it has happened in the space of 5 months but is perplexing.

The engine cranks over just fine but will not fire up. The first time it happened, I had been driving it the day before with no hint of a problem anywhere. I cranked it over a few times, nothing, called the RAC and they couldn't fix it either and told me they'd have to tow it to a garage. When the RAC man arrived to tow it to the garage, he got in and turned it over and it fires up almost immediately. This is 4 days after the problem initially reared its ugly head.

I took it to the saab garage anyway and they said it was the alarm/immobiliser so replaced it and I haven't had a problem since, until yesterday that is. Now exactly the same thing happens, I'd been using it all throughout the weekend with no problems and last night it wouldn't fire up. The fuel pump is working as I can hear it buzz when I turn the ignition.

I've spoken to a Saab specialist about it and he has advised me to check the fuel return valve on the pump and check whether I've got any fuel pressure as a first point of call but other than that has anyone experienced this?

The funniest thing about it is that it has only happened on a Monday! However, on both occasions it has been parked on the same side of the street, facing uphill :-?

Many thanks,
Simon

Weird Problem!
Do you have a DI system on your car?
IF you have, try to find somebody with the same and try that with that one to see if it works.

I had the same Problem on my 88 9000Turbo. The problem was very intermittent. Some days it would run/ start fine and others it would not start at all. Finally after replacing the ignition switch the problem was solved.
