Hi folks. Ive been lurking on the board for a few months now. I have a 1999 9-5 2ltr saloon. I have been getting a bit of blue smoke on starting the car. I have already changed the pcv system pipes but unfortunately this has not solved the problem My dealer says that I will probabaly need a new turbo, but he want a silly amount of spondulicks . I see there is an Abbot racing one in 9-5 parts classified section of this forum, sorry I cant post the link not sure how. Would this be ok for my car and if it is what should I offer ? Thankyou in advance.

hi,
if you spoke about abbott turbo "upgraded" nice choice Upgraded Garrett GT17 Turbocharger, upto 60 BHP Increase, £795+£100 Fitting. Part Number: EEN011 Standard Garrett GT17 Turbocharger, £455, Part Number: EEN013 The SAAB 9-5 Ecopower models have been affected by premature Turbocharger failures, normally occuring between 70-100k miles. This has been thought to have been caused by a number of issues including insufficient cooling of the turbocharger bearing core, missing oil changes and overspeed of the turbocharger centre shaft. To counteract this problem we have teamed up with a leading aftermarket turbocharger specialist to modify the GT17 to improve both its reponses and reliablilty. Utilizing improved compressor and turbine wheels the modified GT17 produces more air flow at higher RPM without compromising low speed pick-up. Main features of the updated Turbocharger

Try this then Rob. A decent upgraded turbo should go for a bag of sand, a standard one can be bought for a monkey. If they want any more than a bag of sand, they're having a turkish.
