This past Saturday was the 4th Annual Adirondack Saab run. Hard to believe the run and the club is 4 years old already. While ASR remains a small event it is fun and the small size keeps the pace up. We cover about 150 miles on Saturday. The day was about as perfect as you could get. It was upper 60s, perfect turbo weather, and sunny all day. The view was unreal. The eaves are just starting to change color. We started in Lake George NY, and then drove along the 32 mile long Lake to historic Ft. Ticonderoga for a rest stop. The Ft. Ti we travel north along Lake Champlain to Ausable Chasm which is sometimes called the Grand Canyon of the east for a lunch stop. Since it was such a clear day we decided to make the trip up Whiteface Mountian. The road is a little rough and heaved up but if you take it slow it's fine. The road is 8 miles with an avg 8% grade and is never more than 10%. The views are unreal. Upon leaving Whiteface we headed back down and followed the Ausable River to Keene NY home of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks, 46 mountains over 4000Ft. Then we headed up the challenging Hurricane Mountain road which gains over 1500 ft of elevation in 6 miles. It twists and turns the entire way with many challenging corners of all varieties. It was once used by the Motors Sports Club of America as a hill climb race from 1947 to 1964. I've been trying to find any photos of info about that club and race but have so far dug up little except for stories from locals. We then traveled along Route 73 in the Keene Valley along the Cascade Lakes and all the white birches to Lake Placid for Dinner at the Fireside Restaurant. When dinner was over the remaining cars drove back down south in Tandem on I-87 and we all departed on our own ways from there. I hope everyone had a good time and they seemed too.

Awesome shots! Looks like a great trip we are sorry to have missed it...granted we got a sweet German Shepherd Dog 3 month old puppy in exchange but it would have been great to hang out with you all....something that we really missed at the convention.
Stephen, will we see you at Swedish Car Day? |
