Default Parking lights and headlight switch

I was just curious as to how much a dealer would charge to reprogram the headlights, so that in "parking light" mode, only the parking lights are on, and fog lights can be on (no headlight lo-beam)?

I searched and read that the dealer can do this, but I haven't seen any posts on how much it would cost...

well, i sucked it up and went to the dealer.... they said it was illegal to do parking with fogs (no lo-beams) here, but i had them set it up that way anyway...

they charged me $88.70 (incl. tax) - 1 hour labor (minimum charge). took 15 mins once they took the car back.

Im one of em.
I went to my indy (out of business now) and got 0.5hrs of labor charge...
If it is illegal, Im sure one of the 500 cops ive passed by on my way to work would have said somethin by now (both ways to work involve passing in front of large county police stations )

That's how I feel about the legality as well... I think maybe the service center thought I wanted to drive at night with just fogs or something.. ?

I have it done too, I was lucky to have a dealer that didnt charge anything for it.

As far as legalltiy goes....BMW's and jeep grand cherokees comes from the factiories with that option as do some other cars, so i could care less, and as long as you arent driving around at night with just the fogs on, you should be fine

I know it's illegal to drive with parking lights and fog lights on in Washington state, but the police have said that they have better things to do than pull people over for illegal lighting modifications. Strangely enough it's also illegal to drive with just parking lights on in this state, but that's exactly what the DRLs are on most newer GM cars and trucks.
