Default Considering a 94' 9000 Aero, some questions

I have been looking for a fairly cheap to buy fast car for a while and drove an Aero last night. very impressed, I just have some questions about it... well really just one question.

Its got 100k miles on it, how long do these things last? I am considering a drive train waranty, shoudl i go for it?

The car is 7 Grand.

Also, the clutch pedal is extremely short, as in it moves like 2-3 inches, is that normal for the 9000 or is that an aftermarket thing?

OK maybe I have more then one question...

Anyone know the 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 times on this thing?

The 0-60 is like 6.4-6.6 depending on who you talk to. The 1/4 mile is about 14.8.

the clutch pedal sound as though there could be a problem, the 9000 has its clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing so you need to remove the box to get to it and as a result of this location they get very hot and when they start to go wrong the first thing that happens is the pedal doesnt come all the way back to the top when you take your foot off

$7000.00 USD ??????

Is that the going rate for a '94 Aero? I guess this one has been well cared for, but that sounds a little high to me. I've seen cheaper Aeros closer to the $5000 range for the same year.

If there's something wrong with the clutch its going to be expensive just warning you.
I have a 93 9000 Aero with 150K and just got a new clutch costed like 1K, but im guess all together It's costed about 5K with car new clutch and everything.
The 94' is a good year, It has a better tranny then the 93 (better syncros and smoother.Didn't know that until mine was already purchased but im still happy)
In my opinion if the clutch is bad 8k is alot for a 94 9000 aero but 100K miles is pretty resonable.
It's your call but im sure you'll be happy with it if you get it.
Btw with a couple of mods you could get that car to the 300bhp range.
Btw my clutch petal is short too.. Im pretty sure its normal.

They claimed the clutch is a performance clutch, makes sense to me because it didnt slip or anything.

By the way, what mods are there to get up to 300hp?
Just the standard stuff? (Intake, exhaust, chip, etc)

yup exactly that stuff actually might want to get an intercooler too(helps with heat soak.
A stage 3 ECU from SQR or Maptun will give you numbers like that.
But once you get into that range you'll need to do some serious work on just about everything else.(suspension, brakes, ect.)
And it is a 11yr old car. Probably needs new upper engine mounts and maybe ball joints(i know mine does but they're only like 30 bucks).
All in all a good car to start with to modify. Plus you got a TCS off/on switch too right. See i don't have that so i got TCS 24/7...I need one of those switches(problem is $80)..

Be carefull of what you wish for:-) Aeros are fun. .although 'Fast Car' is an argueable claim.
Real issue is Cheap.. One needing some work .. and sadly Most if not all Saabs do.
Repairs are surprisingly expensive, and depressingly frequent..
This Ain't no Mustang.
But IF you go in 'Eyes Open' ..then Have Fun.

Got too much money in your hand and nowhere to spend it? Is the extra 25 horses worth that much money to you? I wouldn't buy a 94 aero for 7 grand but it is your money.

Seriously, SAAB 9k's are notorious for its low resale values. I bought my '95cse fpt 5 speed this January (to replace my 94cs n/a wrecked last Decemer) for $2,750 at 116k miles.

Don't do it.

Hey loudog3114, i got a 94 9K Aero, closing 150 on the clock

here's a few things to look out for. upper and lower engine mounts, check the CV joint boots, check the power steering fluid reservior is not leaking under, check the front suspension and upper shock mounts. also the timing chain will need replacement, so listen to the car.

i luv the car, and i like working on it, you gotta be good with maintenance, and be more proactive with the preventive stuff its my daily drive and is good to me... most of the time hehhehe. had been told by a saab specialist in bergenfield NJ that the engine is strong on this one, seems to hold up still. but hey, this is my first really good car, had a 73 valiant then an 87 sentra, who knows maybe i'll get a 2006 aero wellllll maybe when the clock hits 250... hope it last that long....

do some research and read up on Quasimotor site. that site helped me with tons of info.
