Default a new daily driver...

Aero is for sale. The layoffs at IBM continue to loom, so I'm hoping to find her a good home with someone that will care for her as I have (posted in classifieds).

I picked up a more affordable daily driver. I'm told the 3.0L is bulletproof provided the cars are cared for. 1983, 58k original miles. Why would anyone pay $20k for some new economy car ? I've been blessed to have found this and continue to be blessed with a job. I'm hoping I can hang in there but still enjoy driving.

With the Aero in a new home my monthly car payments will be cut in half, my total car loan amount will be 2/3 of now, and a smile on my face just like when driving my Aero. Would that I could keep both, but financially this makes sense. I'll be looking to move the Aero to a new home soon, it hurts to see her in the garage knowing I can't keep her.

Looks like a lot of fun.

I was considering a late model turbo 911 before I bought the 93. Practicalities like hauling kids and adults in the back seat stopped that idea pretty quickly.

I'd be interested to hear what happens to your insurance premiums. In NJ, my annual premium on a 1994 911 would have been about 3x the rate on my 93.

Default insurance and websites

Thanks for the compliments guys. My Aero is insurance symbol 17, the 911 is 18. I'm still stunned when I consider how those 911s were built like tanks, the high level of craftsmanship and materials in them, that someone (in the market for that type of coupe) would buy modern, unless the 80s idiosyncracies put them off. I like the lack of power steering, and the stiffer clutch, it's much more interactive and demanding a driving style, but it is nowhere near the smoothness and refiinement of my Aero. I really wish I could keep both, but it's not jutifiable financially with the current picture at the job. We're all waiting to feel the axe on the back of our necks.

Regarding selling the Aero, I attempted to place a classified at saabnet.com to reach other Saabphiles who might be interested in the car. It was refused ! He didn't even want my money because I have 'heaped abuse on the site' in the past. I calmly explained in an email that there is a main reason that his site loses viewership to this site : his attitude. Obviously this site is more modern and I feel those (kudos admins!) running it are more in touch with the realities of the world wide web.

It amazes me that some people spend so much energy and emotion creating their own little empires. This life is transient, we should all do our best to enjoy it while also being kind and considerate to others.

I'm resisting the urge to adorn the 911 with flair
