alright so i've been running with an exhaust that ended at the mid muffler for about a year now and it needed replacing. the other day after ariving at a friends house the exhaust and CAT broke lose. the gasket on the CAT where it meats the header snaped. after taking off the CAT from the downpipe i realized that i would need a new one
i figure it will be cheaper for me to do this than a mechanic, so i've found an exhuast at eeuroparts for $150 and a CAT for $114 here on ebay. is this the cheapest that i'll be able to find for either of them? also is there anything i should know about installing this? i've never installed a CAT and exhuast before. |

Yeah it's pretty straightforward.
I would not skimp on the catalyst. Go for an original-spec unit for a Saab 900 like a Bosal or something. Cheap cats tend to be ****ty, both on their efficiency side (ie cleaning exhaust), flow side, and also I have seen many where the internal honeycomb broke and caused trouble. (hmm... you can have a rhodium and palladium cannon on the back of your car?)

A little note here, I recently replaced my CAT, apparently the Saab CAT, allegedly an OEM Replacement and very pricey, is now a different length and a new downpipe is needed also.
or I Got scammed, this is per Saab Specialist 'The Swedish Connection ' in NJ J |

I recently bought 2 converters for a friend's Toyota from www.convertersexpress.com for a great price, and the delivery was lightning-fast (they're in Brooklyn NY). The car passed CT emissions the next day
*edit* I just visited this site, and the cat for a Turbo 900 is $97 with free shipping. Last edited by ProfZ; 31-05-05 at 12:10 AM. |
