Flickering TCS TRL Light on 9000 2.3 FPT Griffin

I'm sure this is all been done to death.. but..

This is happening on my my92 9000 2.3 FPT Griffin...

I turn the key, the electrics start up.. ABS light.. ON then off.. TCS CTRL ON then off (proper brightness) all normal.. then as I drive off.. the TCS CTRL light flickers on.. but not full brightness.. flickers off.. flickers on.. and so on.. but never full brightness only been happening this past few days.. any ideas?

p.s. car accelerates no problem and starts and stops fine.. no other lamps come on..

On Thursday I'd opened the top of the dashboard and replaced a few non-functioning illumination lamps.. but didn't touch the area containing the TCS CTRL lamp.
