Default 9-5 2.3 Eco 2000 (W) Engine issues

Hi,

Can anyone inform me as to any engine issues I should look out for on this? I know all about the PCV problems but was wondering if you could point me in the right direction as to other important issues with an engine with 98k on the clock.

This will be replacing my written off 9-5 2.0

Thanks guys.

Hi Bud, youve pretty much got the major issue covered, the sludging and pcv, but you know all that already. My car is the same age and same mileage when purchased. I had to replace all the pcv pipes. There wern't any oil drips any where so I was lucky. I replaced pretty much all of the old black vacuum hoses as they were brittle and cracking. Apart from the usual high milage spring shocks and brakes the car was good..

A Saab with 98k is only a baby

Aside from the longer crank in the 2.3, they're essentially the same engine.

Thanks guys for the input. There is a slight rattle from what I think is the timing chain and gear which I'll need to investigate, but at least it comes with full saab service history plus a 6 mths parts & labour warranty.

I have had a quote to replace this at £1.5k as I know, the engine has to be removed. I'm gonna double check the warranty to make sure this is covered

Cheers Guys. P
