Thumbs up Fuel Filter replacement instructions

Fuel Filter change every 60,000 miles or before. Takes about 45min. Easy job to do even for a novice car tinkler

wrench/socket sizes you will need:
18 mm wrench for Front bolt
20mm wrench for Rear Bolt

dont know size of the fittings on the Filter itself as i just used an adjustable wrench to hold it.

my screw that goes into the frame was a 3/8" screw, dont know why.

thanks just did it

Just did this operation. I bought a generic substitute from the local auto parts store. The damn thing is the identical shape, however contains no arrows (to ponit toward engine) and it is actually in a backwards configuration.

What i mean is that it looks identical but you have to put it in the way which looks backwards. Just thought I'd post this note to hopefully save someone the headache I had - trying to figure out how i managed to put it on backwards when the bolts are actually different sizes.

That tiny image looks really helpful, but when I click it I get a 503 error. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone else have a link to this same information?

Default Fuel Pump Fuse

I just changed my fuel filter this last weekend. In my 2003 2.3lpt, the fuse for the fuel pump is fuse #15 not #19 as the WIS states. Has anyone else seen the same? I am not sure if this a difference between NA cars and the rest of the world? Anyhoo, all went well and I guess my suggestion is to look at the door to the fuses to verify which one is the fuel pump fuse.

Just did the fuel filter today. Thanks for the info, everyone.

Just for the record, my WIS and cover panel confirm it is #15. The WIS says that pre-02 cars use fuse no. 19.

Anyone know when they changed for the updated "quick connect" style filter instead of screwed connections? I feel my 05 9-5 might be affected by the switch.

found your answer on eeuroparts. If you go to 2005 9-5 filters, this is what it says for the NEW quick connect filter: "VIN# 53510416 on" otherwise you have the old one
