Anyone from SaabCentral going to the Star Wars Convention (Celebration III) in Indianapolis, Indiana later this month?
http://www.starwarscelebration.com/s....aspx?file=swc Maybe if there are a fair few of us we could get a group together for drinks? Granted I'll be pretty busy what with Jabba's reception one night and the Master Replica's collectors reception another night (what is a geek to do?) anyone else willing to admit they are going |

Nope, but I think all of us at Carlisle should go to Episode III when it opens.

Well then we will look forward to seeing you at Carlisle in May! I'm actually looking forward to this...the up coming season of meets and conventions...Star Wars in April, Carlisle in May and the SOC at Stratton in August! While i am sure we will end up at some Saab event or another in June and July it will be busy enough with SOC in August....and then Swedish Car Day in October...

if it wasnt so far, i would DEFFFF go to the SW convention...SW is by far the best series of movies to ever come out....no other movie could even come close to the hype that it has created.....take some pics of the convention!

Phew! what a trip!
14 hour drive from CT to Indy.... day one, 5:00am in line for doors that open at noon...in the cold and scattered showers day two, 5:30am in line for doors that open at 10am...in the cold and pouring rain day three (saturday) they sold 80,000 day passes for Saturday and there was further extra line stress as George Lucas was speaking that morning so i took that opportunity to sleep in and have a spot of lunch before heading over around noon (doors opened at 10). no line for me but it was freezing cold and pouring rain....my brother reported that it was more of an endurance test standing in line that day (soccer being the only other activity you could participate in requiring more endurance day four, packed up the car, checked out of the hotel and hit the line at around 8...doors opened around 9:30 instead of 10 which was a treat cause it was snowing. the Church next to where the line was played star wars tunes with the bells, that was cool. then we had lunch at a place called "The Ram" which was the official headquarters for the 501st and headed east around 5...got in just after 7am Monday morning. it snowed the whole way East from Indy to just around Carlisle...insane return trip...but i was glad that i hadn't had time to change out the snow tires before the trip. but by far the highlight for me was meeting Peter Mayhew and getting his autograph...the man who played Chewbacca. Only slightly better was the second car getting a speeding ticket on the way out...mostly because i was the one with the radar detector and it went off just as i was passing someone so the cop was unable to nail me...i warned the second car but not in enough time...they got him. Only $100 though... i attached a few of the photos.... the first one is me with Peter Mayhew (!) the second is me hanging in line day one the third is a shot of the front of the line on day one...we are by the traffic lightpole (there is a person in a yellow rainjacket right behind where we were) there will be more to come but they are being loaded onto a web page and i can't get at all of them just yet...wait until you guys see the one of the female stormtrooper (anatomically correct suit with crop top and low rise pants...not to mention the Slave Leia! |

My brother in his infinite humor put a lot of hilarity on his web site with photos from the convention. even if you arent interested in Star Wars the geek and costume comments alone are worth it!
check it out here: http://www.alkaizer.com/celebration3.html the commentary is hilarious...as i already mentioned |
