Default I am getting K&N Filter for my Saab

I just ordered a K&N Filter for my Linear SS. I heard great things about their filters.

Anyone using this filter? I searched the forums and came across many with the JR filter and the ITG filter, but no one with the K&N. I called up K&N they said the part number for the '04 Saab 9-3ss is 33-2165. So, I called up the local dealer and they mentioned that part number shows up under a 2.3 liter 9-3ss that is in production.

To date, I have not heard of a 2.3 ltr 9-3ss, but I have it ordered and if it doesn't fit, well...it is returnable based on what the guy said at the store, so I am going into this thng without any repercussions if it doesn't fit.

This brings me to my next question, how do you get to it? I know where it is, however, does anyone have DIY instructions for filter access?

Thanks
Paul

Use the screw driver that comes in your trunk's tool kit. I think it's a T25 torx bit. There are a few screws you need to take out on the factory airbox (the big black box at the front left of your engine bay). Once you pop the top you can just take the stock filter right out and drop in the new one.

I tried out the five screws holding it down and there appears to me more to it then just this....

I didn't want to force anything unless it is safe to do so.....as this would be my first time removing the filter top.

You better cancel that order. They don't make a filter for the SS yet. That one is for the 2.3T in the older 9-3 and 9-5's.

Fink beat me to it. It won't fit your car, thats why none of us have a K&N filter.

Great....thanks for the news.

What options to I have for filter replacements:

- JR Filter
- ITG Filter

What else? Anything else at a relatively low cost that doesn't void warranty and that is similar to the K&N Filters?

I have the ITG filter in my Aero - there was a little more noise, and perhaps a small increase measured in the seat of my pants, but nothing like the improvement when going with the PPC.

I thought there was not a K+N air filter for the Sport Sedan, but then I saw MAPTUN 's site and saw they had a K+N airfilter for the Sport Sedan:

edit: wrong opel

hmm....K&N seems to have the following available for a 2004 Saab 9-3:

2004 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All Automotive Air Filter 33-2858

Does this make any sense? I don't reall the 2004 being a 2.2 l?

They show it fits all these cars.

2004 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All
2003 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All
2002 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All
2001 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All
2000 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All
1999 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All
1998 SAAB 9-3 2.2L L4 DSL - All

They don't even know what engine are in Saabs. All these filters do is raise the silcon level in your engine.
