Hi All,
When ever I turn my 01' 95 Auto steering wheel to its extreme left or right at almost stationary speed, there is a rattering noise. Only comes out at the extreme like something is loss... I have got the dealer to look at it (btw my car is out of warranty too) and they have already regreased the steering column few time but the sound is still there...one of the customer service told me that it is not worth to investigate further... anyone can help advise me?? thanks in advance, sam |

All 9-5 steering seems noisey to me, especially at low speed but full lock is worse, I'd compare it with another 9-5 before you worry too much

A lot of power steering units have a full lock grind. Generally, this is just another reminder that you should never fully lock your steering (horrible for the power steering unit). My 2004 is very smooth, even at lock.

Hey guys, I just had a hose on my power Steering blow and fluid flush out all over the road/curb. So, when taking it to get fixed the Saab Mechanic told me the part is not made anymore but ENZED (Hose Doctors) could make one up for me. The Mechanics said they got this done for another Saab a few weeks back and they experienced Vibration/Noise/Grind at low speeds. So yeh I went with that and thought it couldn't be too bad. It turns out it's pretty bad and sounds very harsh on the pump.
So. Perhaps you guys have at some stage had this same hose replaced with an aftermarket one, and that could be causing your probs. I reckon I will purchase the real thing if I can get hold of one. See if I get the same result. Remembering that Saab Mechanics dont always have the best places to source their parts from. Here's a pic of the hose in question I got replaced. http://www.eeuroparts.com/productdetail.aspx?searchResults=1&code=5246 |
