Well, I'm out...
..not sure in the final anlysis that I would have done an SUV anyway, but I just got an 05 Outback XT Limited (red). Went in to get my WRX serviced and walked out with it. I had test driven one before and wasn't hugely impressed but that was with auto. The car really scoots, is quite roomy and it has more ground clearance than most SUVs. And the interior (esp. the Outback with fake wood accents and XT w/ elector gauges) is quite nice. Walks all over the Volvo XC70 in the handling and power department, and better performance than an allroad at 15k less. I don't know honestly why I was so down on the Subie before, perhaps just because we had been dissapointed with the WRX. Plus the money factor was good and they gave me a very decent price on the WRX. And I avoided the stigma of driving a bmw!
