I don't know what minivans and hearses you are looking at, but I haven't seen any that look like that.

Whatever happened to plans for a revised front end? Perhaps Saab, being short on cash, wants to hold out as long as possible? Maybe they think that just the fact that they have a new variant is enough, and next year, if sales are sluggish, they can slap on the new grille/lights.

I think it looks like a wagon, just odd prespectives really. I had the same thing with the new GTO, I thought to pictures looked awful. I reality it was much wider and cool looking.
