Default 9-7X and 9-3SportCombi

If you ignore the SC's pillar tailights, I see a strong resemblance in the hatch door shape, window, bumper fascia etc. What do you think ?

The resemblance is nothing more than a wagon body. The 9-7X looks just like an Envoy with a couple of rice-boy lights from the rear.

If you ask me, manufacturers (ESPECIALLY a manufacturer like Saab known for its tasteful low-key designs) that putting rice-boy lights on their vehicles just because they think someone wants them, is far worse a trend than Saab building an SUV. In another thread, someone pointed out that Saab selling an SUV to not lose SUV customers to someone else is economics 101, simple, where there's a market provide a product. That is far less disturbing to me than the rice-boy lights I see on the 97x or the 93sport combi or the IS300 or the Range Rover, etc etc etc ad infinitum....

I HATE RICE

but just in case you're serious:

ii) A car, usually a late model of japanese origin, that has had numerous features added to it that may enhance its looks, but do nothing for its performance.
Examples include "VTEC" and "Mugen" stickers, large spoilers, chrome wheels ( see also bling bling ), large diameter exhaust pipes,
CLEAR BRAKE LIGHT LENSES and lowered springs.

Yes I'm serious. Sorry if I'm not hip. I was thinking "rice" referred to Japanese cars only...

most of the time it does, but when I see clear tail lights from manufacturers that ruin (in my opinion) an otherwise attractive vehicle (as is the case with the Range Rover or IS300) it just p!sses me off...

personally, i think when done TASTEFULLY (as on the IS300) Euro taillights, as they are called, can look pretty nice. The ones they put on honda accords and civics that have the big round things that stick out are absolutely hideous. to be honest, that civic on that hilarious site looked pretty good by the time they were done, but it's stupid because it's slow. the way i see it, if you've got it, flaunt it if you want. anyway, i really like the taillights on the new 9-7x. i think they did the clear taillight thing in a tasteful way and i think it cleans up the back of the vehicle a lot.

2 cents! *plink plink*

I remember someone asking this question in the lounge last summer...

Here are a couple of links

On this site click reviews and "Simply Rice" - the captions are excellent

The US model 9-3SC's won't have the clear lights, they'll be red. I don't mind them on the 9-7x because it differentiates them versus the other 360 siblings. I just wish they had given it a different tailgate a la 9-2x and 9-3SC.

i agree about the 9-7X, there are only so many ways GM could do that taillight.

i think the frosted taillights look good. and fit the theme of the car better than the red stuff N.A. is getting. damn the D.O.T
