I just recently purchased a 91 900 hatchback and was planning on replacing the front speakers. I went out and removed the two screws holding the speaker grille down and it seems like there is something else still holding it down. I've tried prying quite a bit, but it doesn't seem to come off. Am I missing something here? Thanks for any help.

once you have removed the 2 torq screws all that holds the speaker grill in are 2 spring clips..
just use a little force p.s. Welcome to Saab Central Paul _____________________________________ Full Throttle until you see God, then Brake.. |

There's a couple of small ¬ shaped clips on the underside, which might be catching. From memory, on the UK passenger side (US driver side) there is one on the left hand side of the grille and another at the rear towards the right. Once you've got those 2 screws out it normally just lifts out though - try and angle it in such a way as to avoid the clips catching. I normally use a flat blade screwdriver to lift the edge enough to get purchase on it and then wiggle it out, but be careful as the plastic of the grille is quite fragile.
Welcome to Saab Central Edit - OK, I say do it carefully, Paul says force it out. Try both and you can't go wrong

Thanks guys, I hate to push plastic parts like that too much, but i gave it a pry with the old flathead screwdriver and it slowly and surely came out. Thanks again.

if your dash is old and dried out BE CAREFUL! my car's speakers were replaced by the previous owner and where he pried the grille out it left depressions and small cracks on the top of the dash! depending on your fingers, you can ususally from my experience anyways just flex it a bit and it pops right out!
