I would like to express my condolences to those that have lost loved ones or close friends to the tragedy that has occurred in SE Asia in the past 24 hours. The unknown is possibly even harder than knowing.
Our thoughts are with you all. Paul

I'm waiting for news on a friend who I know is in Thailand on a 3 week holiday. I know he was visiting Phukett but not sure if he would have been there during the tidal wave as I don't know his exact schedule, still very worried though.
The missing persons line (for the UK) is 0207 008 0000 is anyone needs it. Very hard to get through but I was persistent and managed to log a call in the end..... |

Don't we have some folks on SC that are in Malaysia? I hope everyone is ok...Our Manila office is ok. This is so horrible, it's hard to believe. Our thoughts are with those affected.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your concern. Singapore is all right. As far as I know our Malaysian SC friends are all right as well, they live in urban areas which are further inland. I called up my folks who live in Penang, thankfully they are ok but some people in the coastal villages and beach resorts were not so lucky
My sympathies to those of you who had friends holidaying in Thailand or elsewhere, I do hope they turn up safe and sound. |

I can't even imagine. Already, the estimate is at 68,000....and I just heard a report in CNN stating that a large percentage are children. So much devastation in so little time.

I have just found this link on the BBC News website.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/4131881.stm I am sure we can all donate the equivalent of a tank of petrol. Our thoughts are with those who suffer and those who are helping those who suffer at this time. HTH in some small way. |

mine and mrs agey's thoughts go out to all those people in the areas concerned
the worst thing about it is that august this year we were there, and the people are the most friendly you'll ever meet, they were so helpful they had nothing, but would go out of there way to help anyone. The place we stayed was one of the worst places hit n we can only imagine the devestation it's caused the country (sri lanka) was only just gettin back on its feet after years of civil war but the people we met were just so happy i guess everyone in all the areas concerned needs our support i just hope the aid arrives in time my thoughts are with all those in the area and anyone with relatives there
