You really should use the genuine Saab power steering fluid.

Which made an amazing difference on mine when I flushed out the ATF that was in it...

According to the Bentley this is GM Power Steering fluid (GM9985010), Texaco TL4634.

So I rang Texaco Ireland (having first asked at my local Texaco garage "TL what??") who said "nah, we haven't produced that for years now...". Then my local Saab garage didn't have a part number for it. They offered me the '97->' instead. I investigated and decided it didn't suit. Rang around a few other saab garages and Gordon Kellet's (Gordon is a dedicated racing driver. You might hear of him on ITV motorsport programs) were able to give me a part number with which my local saab dealer was able to order. Only EUR13 per litre... I'm gonna go back and buy 4 more litres.

TL4634 is what the Bentley and the owners handbook says. However, like cdaly found, it's probably obsolete stuff now anyway so they might not even make it any more.

cdaly,
do you mind sharing that parts number with us ;-) Or did you mention it somewhere and I was too thick to see it? Best wishes Andreas |
