Default Brake Pads

Hi
My mate is a good mechanic and went to fit a pair of front pads to my 94 cse 2ltr lpt. I had ordered the correct pads via my VIV & Reg an d the box stated saab 9000. On taking the old pads off, they were nearly half as big again as the new ones. Luckily, he had a pair of Merc Sprinter Van pads that fitted perfectly after bending the clips -what is the correct part number?

Correct pads for your car would be 4839700

Default Front brakes

I'm looking for some advice on what brake pads to use. The rotors I'm getting are the Brembos eeuroparts sells. What do you guys use? Why? How much did they set you back?

Good question, some debate on upgrade pads has happened here often. Use the search you'll see from an upgrade perspective the EBC greenstuff pads are a no go for the 9000, nice for shiny show wheels but that is it. IMHO the 9000 brakes are to small for the vehicle mass and any upgrade is a smart move.
The guys running the highly tuned 9000's have either Ferodo DS 2500 or Mintex C tech [angua's 9000 has C tech, but you know that already  ]

They are quite nice. At the moment I can't afford to upgrade my brakes. What I'm looking for is a drop-in set I can replace my current ones with since I have to do the rotors anyway (left one is warped). Nothing performance, just something I won't have to worry about for a while. Also, I would prefer they didn't have asbestos as well, the ones eeuroparts sells do.

Why not use OEM? though I cannot say how much they'll be for you.

The dealer wants $100 for them. That and from what I hear they are overly hard. If it comes down to it I'll get them but I would prefer not to.

I've just finished installing all four rotors and pads on my car, got them for $450 USD and free shipping from www.performanceplusbrakes.com,
rotors are slotted and drilled, the holes do not go through the disc, which should help prevent cracks, plus they look nice with gold zinc plating. They use brembo castings, the performance pads have superb bite, altough they still have to be broken in, the change is evident; the stock pads are just too hard. I took this pics after a ride around the block after installation:

perhaps in the future I will upgrade to bigger brakes, but for now this is enough.
