Ok folks...I know some of you play the guitar (or the bass or whatever). Let's hear what you have for equipment, what sort of music you play, and how long you've been doing it/any band experience you may have.
Me, I have just recently gotten into guitar. I play my old Yamaha 6-string acoustic, and will be buying a used Stratocaster within a few months. I already have a "toy amp," a Fender Mini-Deluxe which runs off of a 9 volt battery and is like an obnoxious AM radio. I love it! Of course I can only use it when I'm with someone who has an electric. At some point I will also be buying a small (real) amp; I want a Marshall MG-30 to the best of my knowledge. I like hard rock and blues (AC/DC, Jet, Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore, etc.) So how about you? BEN |

Thank you Ben for starting that
Me: I play drums, bass, guitar altho I'm mainly a drummer. My guitar is a 2003 Epiphone SG-310, black but with a lot of stickers on it. I have two basses. One is a 2002 Squier P-Bass Deluxe (my first bass). It's a piece of sh*t, but a good beater bass.. my other bass more than makes up for it.. 1985 Fender P-Bass with EMG pickups and natural wood finish. My drum set is a Pacific 5-piece. I use Remo heads and Sabian cymbals (14" hi-hats, 14" and 16" crash, 20" ride), and I have a Pacific double-bass pedal. I also have a Roland keyboard that I mess around on. Go to www.save-yourself.com, and then click "pictures" to see pics of some of the gear. My guitars are the lefty ones. Which brings me to the next point.. I play in a hardcore-ish band out of Salt Lake City called Save Yourself. I drum and scream (sometimes sing, altho that's the guitarist's job, usually) I also write some lyrics/music. My influences are mostly hardcore/screamo bands.. Senses Fail, A Static Lullaby, Alkaline Trio, The Ithaca Melody, Boys Night Out, Alexisonfire, Taking Back Sunday, etc. Also Nirvana has been a huge influence for me. Cheers |

I have been playing guitar forever, but I got my first guitar se7en years ago, I think.
First guitar- Brand new Squire Strat. cheap and fun Second and fav.- 94 Gibson Les Paul Studio- best thing ever, sadly stolen while on last deployment, RIP. Currently playing an unknown Squire Telecaster with dual Humbuckers through a pawn shop Fender amp, 30watts or so. I got a MusicMan HD-130 Reverb w/ 412 cab. at home. from like 1974 . Best sounding tube amp ever. I'd like to get an acoustic/electric, and another les paul. someday...... |

Like the topic! My main is a jetglo 92/93 Rickenbacker 360. Realy love these Ricky's, they are awesome! Second is a Yamaha pacifica tele-model with 2 PAF-pro's with coil tap facilities. Lot of value for your little money! My nephew is playing on my sunburst Squier Strat through my Sunn (fender) 15W practice amp now. Acoustic = electro/acoustic bleu Takamine with cutaway (always forget the model. Pre-amp/efects = Rocktron Voodu valve, Cry baby wahwah Amp = pre 63 non top boost VOX AC30 Band activities are way too low at the moment, well ehh basically no..... Music = pop, rock, symphonic rock. Praise and worship like Hillsongs and Vineyard I like very much |

Some nice stuff you people have!
Ideally, I think I'd have three guitars: the pre-CBS sunburst strat, a vintage Gibson SG, and a 12-string acoustic. I played a 12-string for the first time a few months ago, and just picked up my friend's the other day; they are awesome! They get so loud, and they have that wonderful harmonic sound. Don't try to bend the strings though. No Marshall fanatics, either? BEN |

ahhh, another Ampeg guy. I have an Ampeg 400+ and 2 4x10 cabinets. I play through a solid state fender 100W a lot of the time though because its more practical.
I Also have: 2 G & L L2000 basses custom factory made for just me. '71 Gibson SG Martin 12 string acoustic Simon & Patrick acoustic Gibson G50 acoustic (people go oooh, but it plays like a truck) A PRS that seems to be on permanent loan to a friend who deserves to play it more than me (God) JCM 900 head and 4x12 cabinet A litany of other junk guitars and little amps I've collected over the years that sometimes used to get smashed a lot and frankensteined back together. And maybe some of them have been on fire too. Peddles galore (Cry Baby, Delay modler, Boomerang many, many stomp boxes. But what do I play all the time? A spanish classical guitar I got in an auction for $20 or my 12 string which is always strung as 6. Go figure. |

I fell in love with a sparkly blue Epiphone Les Paul so I snapped it up, then thought I had better try and play as well as it looked - but I didn't manage it! I've got a Vintage electro/acoustic too and all played through the cheapest 10W Kustom Amp ever made. You've gotta love it!

I've been playing guitar and bass for quite a few years but nothing serious - more for enjoyment, hence no proper lessons or anything.
A year ago I got an electric acoustic upright bass and I've been trying to learn that properly, but it's a bit of a challenge - mostly because the scale length is so big. http://www.messengerbass.com/ |
