Default Convertible roof not working!!

Hi all,

Wondering if anybody can help me out. Have a 94 900SE convertible where the roof is sticking when opening or closing. The trouble seems to be with the cover rather than the roof. When the roof is stored away and you come to try to put the roof back up the cover lifts a little than makes this horrible clicking noise. The same happens when you try opening the roof, the glass area lifts than the cover tries the lift but just makes this clicking noise. In both cases if you give the cover a little push it starts working as normal!!!

The nosie seems only to come from the driver's side...

Any ideas on what to do????

I believe this is caused by the wearing of the gears that lift the tonneau cover (soft top cover). Mine started doing that this past winter. My temporary solution has been to help along the tonneau cover with my hand as I use my foot to hold the top up/down switch. Neither pretty nor elegant, but it gets tha job done.

The is a GM recall on some of the convertibles, but I've not yet looked into this.
